Huddersfield Textile Society Welcomes Tim Hoyle As New President

Published: 25th May 2022

We are pleased to welcome the new President of Huddersfield Textile Society, Tim Hoyle, who commenced his two-year term on 25th April 2022 at our much delayed AGM.

Many of you may already know Tim, who has a long standing involvement in the local textile industry and has now started his own Management Consultancy firm. Tim started in textiles in 1978 as a Management Trainee at Moorhouse & Brook, a vertical woollen mill in the centre of New Mill near Holmfirth. He trained in the traditional through the mill way taking 3 years until he was made Production Controller. Tim achieved a HTEC in Woven Design in 1981 at the then Huddersfield Polytechnic, and won the Huddersfield Textile Society Silver Medal for Weaving & Design in the same year.

He spent 22 years at Moorhouse & Brook progressing through the ranks as Works Manager, Production Director and eventually Managing Director in 1992.

Tim left the industry in 2000 to run his own Digital Print business for eleven years. Moving on from this, in June 2011 he briefly joined Joshua Ellis as Production Director. In 2012 he became Operations Manager at Wooltex UK which then led to him becoming Production Director.

In 2017 he became the Managing Director of Bower Roebuck & Co. Ltd., the fine worsted weaver back to New Mill.

He left in 2021 to start his own Management Consultancy with an initial contract as Interim Managing Director of FTS Dyers in Langholm which finished in April. He is currently working with TMS Software in Slaithwaite as a Business Development Consultant.

He has served on many industry bodies over the years including a period as Chair of the Huddersfield & District Textile Training Group, and as a board member of the now defunct CBWT (Confederation of British Wool Textiles).

Tim is delighted and honored to be taking up the role of Huddersfield Textile Society President and we look forward to seeing how the society progresses in the future.
